Thank you for taking an interest in my project! I teach 4th grade with a team of 2 other teachers in a school that serves low income students. We want to enhance our curriculum and teaching of California History by reading the novel By the Great Horned Spoon (about a young boy who tries to save his aunts farm by going West to look for gold), and by taking our students on a field trip to the Irvine Park Gold Rush field trip! This field trip allows to pan for gold, ride on a buggy and wagon train, participate in a Miners Camp and experience what it was like for children living in the 1840's. The novels would be used next year and for future years but the field trip would be for the 4th grade students in the fall of 2015. Please consider helping us provide these rich experiences for our kids!
