Round tables offer my energetic first graders the option to sit comfortably while having collaborative conversations. Group work is a real world skill that students need to develop. These tables also have the benefit of providing flexible seating options for my adorable, creative thinking, but often wiggly first graders.
The round tables we are requesting will help us collaborate in our upcoming Economics Unit on Wants and Needs. Students will use the tables to work in teams to play math games that focus on money, and to design and operate our Class Bargain Mart. Each table group of students will work together to design and create a mini store in our classroom! Teams will select a store name, and price toys they bring in from home to sell to classmates. Each student gets a turn to practice being the producer/Store Keeper and Consumer/shopper all using REAL money!
These tables will also help us use our Cultures of Thinking Routines in many subject areas across the curriculum. Thank you for taking the time to consider helping fund our project!
