A first year teacher with seventeen years of experience. I do feel like I am starting all over. This year I changed districts and roles. My teaching career started in the classroom, but then I moved into the role of a reading specialists for the last 11 years. I am excited to be back in the classroom and in a new district, but feel as though I am starting over. Most of my science materials were given away when I was not teaching in my own classroom. As most teachers do, I have spent a great deal of my own money purchasing all the extras not covered in a regular school budget. At our school many of the students come from low income households and a large number are learning to speak English. We are the Welch School family. The students feel loved and safe in our school environment. I would love to provide them with new materials to make learning come alive. They would be so excited to have more opportunities to work with materials instead of just reading about science concepts.
