My students are as diverse in their cultures as they are in their book choices. They come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic classes. Many have a passion for reading and crave more choices in the books that they read. I have spent the last eight years building my classroom library. It is a great start, but it needs more selections to pique the interests of my young readers. A diverse classroom library will allow my students the voice and choice they so crave when it comes to selecting the best book for them.
