We live in a rural district where half receive free and reduced-price lunch due to lack of funds at home. 30% of our students are Hispanic/Latino. Our school is in a business- and farming-minded community. Students sign up for this class because they are eager to learn about our community and the parks in our area WHILE getting an English credit! I love that, and so do my students. Some of them even call this the field-trip class. On our trips, I have students take photos and videos in order to create a video presentation upon return.
