Many of my students come from underprivileged backgrounds, from an inner city area. However, in spite of being from a lower socioeconomic background, they still come to school hungering for knowledge, yearning for a way to escape the poverty stricken area they know as home. They look to me for hope, for answers, for a better way of life. Some are "too cool" to admit it, but I see it, underneath their toughness. Some need me to give them a valid excuse to get excited in the classroom. So I do.
