My students are the smartest bunch around. They are innovative, hopeful, and eager to play around the science lab to gain a deeper understanding of the chemistry content. They like to question and often zone out in class as their thoughts wander to understand ideas they never new existed. I love that about them! After a bit they take a breath again with sparkling eyes and shoot out more questions. I rarely answer them. Instead I make a project, lab or fishbowl discussion out of it. They come back the next day with more information on topic and quadruple the questions. We do not have enough time to in one period to quench their thirst! Who are they? Children of immigrants or immigrants themselves living in small apartments in garages near the school. They bring gadgets and recyclables to make robots in robotics class. Our tiny school is wonderful and very close knit. Most students have been together since kindergarten. Our school is a Title 1 school.
