I teach in East Aurora School District #131 in Aurora, IL. I teach in a low-income district with the majority of them receiving financial assistance. Many of our students speak Spanish most comfortably, and art class provides them with a chance to be successful regardless of their language capabilities. Art has just recently been brought back into the elementary schools in our district. I have been working hard to build our program. After 3 years on a cart, I was lucky enough to get my own classroom this year. It has been amazing to see how much the students enjoy coming to my room for art.
