There are 30 students who are members of my preschool classroom. There is both a morning session and an afternoon session. Students in the classroom may be special education eligible, may just be starting to learning English, or may be coming from lower social economic backgrounds. There are more students eligible to receive free lunch than not. I serve as both the general education teacher and the special education teacher. The students interact and learn in a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is play based. The students enjoy may open ended learning opportunities that are set up by the staff. The curriculum embraces Piaget's theories that knowledge is actively constructed through the assimilation and/or accommodation of new information.
