Scholastic News Magazines expose our third grade students to many science and social studies topics, as well as reading charts and graphs. The Scholastic News Magazines are also an excellent resource to teach students many informational reading strategies that are fundamental in them growing as a reader. We plan to be reading these magazines on a weekly basis in the classroom.
Exposing students to reading materials that interest and engage them is a great way to encourage them to become life long readers and learners. The Scholastic News Magazines does just this! Students are always enthusiastic and excited when they know it is Scholastic News day in the classroom. The classroom discussion and engagement that takes place when we read these magazines is outstanding!
Due to cuts in the budget, we are no longer able to order these magazines for our third grade students. We are hoping to still be able to get them, as they are such a great source of information that covers many areas of the curriculum.
