My students are nine and ten year olds in the Fourth grade. They are boys and girls who have individualized learning plans as well as students in regular education. These children come from diverse backgrounds. Our school is situated in a sububurb but most of our students receive free and reduced lunch as well as other services to help their families. Some of our students live in the inner city and others lives in the suburbs. All of these children with the opportunity and access to technology could make huge gains to their education. These students are hungry and thirsty for excitement, discovery, and adventure in their social studies and literacy lessons. They are eager to present their newfound knowledge as Fourth grade leaders to their peers and community. Project-based learning is a way to tie these student's Common Core State Standards to their eagerness to facilitate their own learning.
