I am a Special Education teacher for grades 5 and 6. These kids don't read a lot. Reading will...in my opinion...open many doors for them. Of course it will help improve their fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. My goal is to open their eyes to the wonder of books! These kids don't have much so the thought of each kid having their own book to read...rather than just one teacher copy would help tremendously.
