For this project, I will create coding kits that the students will use to solve various challenges. The key component in the kits is a BBC micro:bit, which is a tiny computer that students can code to create animations, games and other projects. I will also include electronic components and rechargeable batteries in the kits so they will have everything they need to complete several projects.
I need one coding kit for each student in the class so that they can maintain social distance while working on projects at school, and they can also check out the kits to use at home during times of distance learning. The kits will then be re-used by a different class of students each quarter.
In normal times, collaborative work is a big part of my STEM class. For now, I am focusing on providing materials for each student so they can learn safely without having to be too close to their classmates.
