My students love to build with blocks and magnets. However, there is a very limited amount of magnets in our classroom and it creates issues in the classroom. If we had more magnets, more students could enjoy building with them. In addition, if there were various types of building materials, my kindergarten students could build many amazing inventions. This type of play is a natural way for my students to plan and build. While they build in groups they also learn to problem-solve collaboratively.
These magnets and blocks will help my students learn the concepts of push, pull, and stack, while engineering. Students learn more from doing than from listening. What better way for them to learn engineering than from building their own bridges and buildings.
