The students in my classroom are adorably sweet, loving little human beings. They have hard lives. They struggle with poverty, hunger, family dysfunction, and the need to feel loved. Many of them like to call me "mom", and I allow this most of the time, because I know that all they want is for me to take them home and make them feel safe and loved. I know that most of them long for a stable home, and loving environment but do not get it. I strive to give them this environment daily at school. The school I teach at is very old. It's run down and I'm sorry to say, ugly. I do my best to make my classroom happy, colorful, and inviting but there's only so much I can do. I teach in the highest poverty district and school in our tri-cities area.
