My students are high school students who are non-verbal with severe autism and attend a specialized school. The teaching of functional academics, life skills and communication skills focused on to help them become active and independent as possible. My Students come to school everyday eager and willing to learn. Due to their severe disabilities, my students need hands-on learning opportunities in school as well as out in the community. It is my hope that the skills they learn will help them achieve greater success once they graduate.
My students need to be given the opportunity to explore and develop interests and talents and to enhance skills to further employment opportunities and independence and be active within their communities and have meaningful experiences.
