My classroom is like a second home to my students and me. I work every day to ensure that it is a fun, engaging, rigorous, supportive, and engaging place to be. My students know that in my classroom they are one of "my kids." Each day I strive to teach, encourage, mentor, praise, guide, and inspire my students, and they do the same for me. Teaching is such a rewarding job, but there are many changes I wish I could make in the educational system. However, to keep my joy, I focus on what I can change. I use the opportunity I have been given as a teacher to have an impact in one little corner of the world: my classroom. There I can touch children's lives, build partnerships and collaborate with parents and colleagues, and advocate for fairness and equity for my students.
