We are lucky enough to be 1-to-1 with computers in my classroom, and my students are very adept at using the computers to help them learn, but what we don't have enough of are books! My students are on many different reading levels, and that requires a lot of books.
The best way to become a better reader is to read! I was a fifth grade teacher for many years, and when I made the switch to second grade, I did not have many appropriate books I could bring with me to my new, empty classroom. We've made do with what we have, but we need more. With these books, students will be able to choose from books on their current level to work on specific skills, books that are above their reading level based on interest - especially science topics - to stretch themselves as readers, and books that are slightly below their level to work on fluency.
