My students are truly amazing. The majority of them come from broken homes with one or more parents in prison. The students in my school have experienced more hurt and disappointment in their short lifetime than most adults I know. Yet they continue to surpass the high expectations I have for them. School is their safe place in the world. At school the students do not have to worry about food, physical or emotional safety. They are free to be themselves without judgment. They strive for the highest under what some would consider impossible circumstances.
