These materials will help support our students explore different elective activities including arts and crafts, physical education, and cooking.
Students with ASD can be rigid in their thinking and reluctant to trying new things; therefore, our classroom utilizes a rotating elective period to help students explore new activities as they learn more about their interests, strengths, and needs.
The arts and crafts supplies will help students complete a weekly arts and crafts activity, helping students to explore different mediums including but not limited to: painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting.
The physical education supplies will help students participate in various physical activities each week including but not limited to: gymnastics, yoga, boxing, and cardio.
The cooking supplies will help students learn to prepare different types of meals, including those new and unfamiliar to them. Students with ASD can often have specific preferences with food. When students make their own meals, they may be more open to trying new types of food.
