Some of my students did not have access to basic materials and couldn't fully engage in remote art class. They were frustrated and some cried, which broke my heart.
I had my students create artifacts based on whatever we could find around the house. We turned cardboard boxes into shelving units, leaves, gravel and found materials into expressive masks and empty toilet tissue rolls into miniature houses, bracelets, and kaleidoscopes.
I purchased some art materials, but the paint sets and clay will help my students fully engage in my class.
