The pandemic removed our students from the school building an entire nine weeks. In addition, for the past year and a half the majority of my students have had extended absences due to quarantines that have kept them out of the classroom. Due to this, much of the mathematical concepts were either skipped, overlooked, or rushed through to try to catch the students up to "where they needed to be." Math understanding builds on itself. When foundations are not built, it's difficult to understand the current content. Students need visuals and manipulatives to understand the mathematical concepts behind the formulas. I plan to use these posters and manipulatives to build conceptual understanding that many of my students never achieved.
