Each morning, you can hear 27 kindergartners shouting "R U RAH RAH!", the chant for Rutgers University. We name our classrooms after universities to get kids thinking about college at a young age. Even though they are only five years old, my students are excited about working hard to go to college!
I teach 27 enthusiastic and energetic five-year-olds from all over New Orleans. I work at a low-income school and many of our scholars face significant challenges in their quest to learn and grow. Despite many barriers, my students come to school each day trying their best to succeed.
We are working hard to make sure that all scholars can overcome their unique obstacles to be ready for first grade. My students are curious and excited to learn, but they need individualized help in the classroom to succeed in reading, writing, and math.
