This is a Title 1 school with many students who come from low income homes. The students become very engaged and motivated when we do labs, experiments and activities that peak their interests. I've seen these children explore and investigate concepts in science through experimentation, and it moves their understanding from more abstract to concrete. They love to be outside and find it invigorating to get their hands dirty. My students are always wanting to know more, see more and do more when it comes to science. Being involved in problem based learning, simulations and experiential learning creates a curiosity within them, and once I have them interested, their individual successes multiply greatly.
