I teach band to students in sixth through eighth grades in a Title I, urban school. My students love band and many identify as "band" students in and out of class. Students not only learn how to play wind or percussion instruments in band, but we also teach pillars of character such as cooperation, discipline, patience, and respect. We have a little under 300 students in the band program, and are hoping to expand our group in the next few years. However, our students need a lot of supplies! Being in band, while rewarding, can be very expensive. We hope that through Donors Choose, we can help students in our school get the supplies that they need to be successful. We want our students to worry about practicing and not to worry about how to get reeds, tuners, or anything else they need for class!
