Recreating and expanding the makerspace will help my students in their healing process by giving them a sense of normalcy following Hurricane Harvey. Students will be able to collaborate, communicate, create, and think critically in a safe environment while building STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) skills. This project includes many supplies that will allow students to create. Art supplies such as a Spirograph kit, patterned coloring books, mazes, advanced dot to dots, and mosaic tile kits, along with colored paper, markers, and colored pencils will allow the students to make masterpieces. Technology and engineering tools, like iPads, littleBits, and Ozobots are also included in this project. Students will be able to use the green screen and pop-up wardrobe for video creation. The iPad will allow them to have access to apps to create with. Bloxels and Makey Makey can be used to construct games. Students will explore coding with Ozobots. They will build with Giant Tumbling Timbers and Keva Planks. Finally, students will be able to compose music using the new Casio keyboard. Funding this project will bring life back to the recently flooded school library for students.
