The students in my classroom are simply amazing. My students love to play games together, see their friends at school, and just like to laugh and have fun. Many of the students in our school have gone out of their way to befriend my students, visiting our classroom and giving out high-fives in the hallway. We are in a small rural town in Ohio and we are fortunate to have a tight-knit community. The staff is really supportive of my program with our special students. I have hardworking students who really do try hard even when I know the material is challenging for them. Several of the students are new to the school and my classroom did not have materials appropriate to where they are at developmentally and academically. My students have a hard time just sitting in their chairs and working on the same books and worksheets. They benefit the most from real-life experiences directly learning functional skills. One of their favorite things is visiting local grocery stores to practice money skills.
