My students are in a maximum security facility due to some decisions they have made prior to coming to me. They are not "bad" kids; they are, however, in need of guidance. My students are bright and, at times, hilarious. They take life for what it is, and they never shy away from telling you how they feel. Their ideas and thoughts have altered my perception of them. In my eyes, they are not criminals. These children have the capacity to achieve greatness. I want them to become functioning members of this society, and I need some help in doing this. They want a chance to climb out of the holes they have dug for themselves; my job is to be the one reaching into their pit and pulling them toward the world they have yet to see.
