My students love to read but have limited access to high-interest texts. A genre we identified as high-interest across the 6th grade is MYSTERY. I would like to have a class set of a novel that will hold their interest and keep them excited about reading in my classroom.
Struggling readers often have a hard time finding something they WANT to read. By providing a high-interest novel for our class, I can expose these readers to a world of reading excitement they haven't known yet. Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is the perfect way to build better readers. Reading a book together that we all love will be a gateway to better reading skills for reluctant readers. My students will love getting their hands on similar books moving forward.
