Our school is a Title I school located in the heart of the Black Belt. The geographical area has a high unemployment rate and the tax base is extremely low. The school consists of 300 or more male and female African American students. The majority of the student body lives below the poverty level with a grandparent or with a single parent. Our school is considered a failing school by the state's Legislature because of below average reading and math scores.
