When materials are disorganized or lost, precious time is lost. The items in this project are for organization. I chose the Seat Sack chair pockets because it is very important to keep a clean, organized classroom. I would like that when students walk in to my classroom, that it looks inviting, warm, clean, fun, and organized as opposed to cluttered, dirty, and chaotic.
An organized environment helps children to be more independent. When they know where things belong, they are more willing and able to do things all by themselves. An organized environment helps keep expectations about where to play, rest, put papers away, eat, and so forth which leads to more positive student behavior. It also helps teachers spend more time on their students rather than worrying over where things are and where things belong. A tidy classroom creates greater opportunities for student learning.
I believe that the chair pockets will encourage my students to be more accountable for their own things.
