My students come from a small suburban town in Wisconsin that still has a very close knit community. Most of them come from middle class families. My school has 600 students in Kindergarten-5th grade. Our school has developed its own community, with older students helping younger, buddy classes between grade levels, reading buddies, etc. My students are eager 5 and 6 year olds. They are hungry to learn, but still need to have fun! They love anything Frozen or Pokemon. They love to sing, dance, and play! I try to incorporate these things for them as much as I can.
