Teaching special education in a middle school is a unique challenge. Many of my students have rarely achieved success in school and struggle with focusing and paying attention, skills they need to be successful.
After praising him for staying focused and getting some hard problems right, I had a student tell me "I want to focus more, its just that sometimes my body just feels all funny and I can't focus on anything else. This student along with so many other are in constant motion. I want to help provide something to give them the movement they need and help them be successful in their learning. Wobble chairs and other seating options will go along way to helping their brains focus on the mathematics.
