My classroom is full of Kindergarten students who are always eager to learn. As Kindergartener's they make a very big jump from knowing very little, to knowing how to read, write, do addition, subtraction, and much more. My school is a Title 1 school and the majority of my students come from low -income families where they are exposed to very little. While their parents supply what they can, I supplement as much as I can for my kids. I know how important it is for them to have a literacy and math rich environment at home, which is why I try to by each of them at least 2 books a year and encourage parent involvement in the activities I send home. I know it is not much, but for some it is all they have.
