Students learn in many different ways so by implementing hands-on manipulative items they will be able to investigate many mathematical concepts that may be confusing to them. The items I have chosen cover a vast part of the 5th-grade math curriculum and will be used in small centers, as well as small groups at my table.
Fifth graders are still kids and they learn best by interacting, investigating, and problem-solving to find the answers. The items I have chosen will help them investigate fifth-grade math concepts and build on them. These items will help all students but especially the lower performing students that need more instruction and concrete visuals.
