Most of these students come from low income families, and have no outlet to express themselves. None the less, these students are very determined to make something better of their lives, and the cards that have been given to them. Music is something that these kids understand, and through marching band class these students are able to relate to their peers and instructors. They use the knowledge they obtain, and transfer it to their core classes, gain a sense of accomplishment and pride for their school, and forge bonds with other students.
