I teach 6th grade science in a suburban, blue collar, working class district. At home students have their basic needs needs met but many families do not have money for the "extras" including technology. Some students have computers at home but many do not which limits their exposure to the skills they will need in our digital society. Students get very excited when technology is brought into the classroom and I would to be able to include it in my lessons more often.
The teachers at my school hard dedicated to their students but lack of funding severely limits the amount of technology experiences we are able to provide. We often need to use more than one set of computers during a project and transfer information at the beginning of each class which is very time consuming. Printing is also not allowed from student devices so it needs to be transferred to a staff computer to publish their work. Having a class set (30) flash drives will allow all 95 students to work much more efficiently!
