I am a first year teacher at a Title 1 school. Over 50% of students quality for free or reduced lunch. I will be teaching language arts and mathematics to over 60 students. Up until this point, I have purchased everything I need for my classroom out of my own pocket. I want to give my students all that I can, especially a positive learning environment with plenty of work space. Unfortunately my current resources provide very limited space to support group sessions and individualized learning in a comfortable manner like I would like. I find that at this grade level collaboration and group sessions are important in the development during this transitional age as students are learning to voice their opinions and grow into the people they will become. I find that additional monitoring, reteaching, and attention is important to ensure every student is reaching their full potential. These children are our future!
