I will be kicking off the year with a great group of 3rd graders next week. Our school is a high poverty, priority school with many needs. We have many wonderful families who support their children, but financially donating to the school isn't possible. There are also students coming in the door with life stories that don't always allow them to focus on academics. We have poor attendance as well, but I think the kids in our room would be eager to have stability balls for seating. It just may be the ticket to get them through the doors on time each day. When students feel safe to move and know it's encouraged to support their learning, I think this gives them an environment to take risks as learners, show responsibility, and push to meet their goals. My students will be so excited to each have a special seat to use daily instead of sharing 3 balls on a rotation.
