The materials in this project will allow my students to effectively work to improve their reading skills. These materials will help to provide small group intervention and reading instruction to students. They will also be used to when I work to support classroom teachers with their practices.
By having these tools, small group instruction will be enhanced for literacy learning and student engagement. I will be working with many groups each day. Every student will be able to have their own set of magnetic letters to make words. This is key to having students learn to read and write in the primary grades. The magnetic tabletop easel will allow me to model the words for the students. Being portable, I can also easily take it around to different classrooms I work in. The larger easel can hold posters of poems and short reading passages. Students can come up and point out words, and even lead the small group in choral reading. We can even do interactive and shared writing activities with the post-it posters. These tools will also be helpful in modeling instruction and providing professional development for fellow teachers at our school. Being a Literacy Teacher, I am excited to extend my reach beyond one classroom!
