As many of you know, I am a kindergarten teacher in Bloomington, Indiana. I have the opportunity to teach at a very high need school. I have students coming from all different types of backgrounds; some are homeless, some are living in hotels just trying to get by. One of my greatest needs as a teacher is classroom snacks. Usually, I provide these snacks which range from goldfish, animal crackers, etc. However, this year, I received my class roster and found out that one of my students has life threatening allergies to eggs, dairy, wheat, gluten, and peanuts. After looking at my options, I came up with two. The first is to not provide a classroom snack which in my opinion is not really an option. My second option is to ask for help so I can afford to provide my students fresh fruits and veggies for snack everyday since that is all that will be allowed in my classroom due to the severity of the allergy. I would love if you could help me feed these little bellies this year!
