I have 27 amazing third grade students. They are inquisitive, funny and anxious to learn. They love reading and talking to each other about their books. They are eager to learn new information and grow as readers. My students have found a passion for reading. They constantly talk with their friends about what book they should read next. They absolutely love having literature circle books where they can share and discuss their books with peers. They are excited to get new books and popular series are hard to keep on my bookshelves.
My students live in a rural district nestled at the base of the mountains in Western Washington. About 70 percent of our 340 students receive free or reduced lunch and our in need of having access to high-quality literature. There is not a public library in our town so having great books in the classroom is critical.
