Many of the students in the school where I work live in poverty, but they have a light in their eyes when it comes to learning something new. With mentoring and coaching, all of the students will learn to love learning as much as I do. With the help of new administration, we are developing more lessons that are hands-on and student-centered. This means that the students are more engaged in fun learning activities, with less lecturing from a boring teacher. The students get the opportunity to create their own schemata and background knowledge through exploring and creating.
I have worked hard to create a quiet, comfortable, cozy, and inviting reading corner in my classroom. There is a shag rug, strung lights on the wall, positive quotes for decoration, pillows, and a bench and chairs for comfortable seating.
