Time spent getting supplies from various locations in the classroom, take away from quality hands on learning. Individual Math Tool Kits will provide our students with the ability to have all their resources in one spot.
Math on the Move, no matter where we are learning, will allow resources to be organized and ready to go with the student. The opportunity to take learning on the "road" to various places in the school can allow for great learning experiences.
Students will have the ability to replicate the work going on at the Smartboard or document camera, using their own base ten manipulatives. As they are introduced to the various strategies for addition, they will be able to use their own ten frames or unifix cubes. Students will have the opportunity to learn real life skills with their own play "coins", as the work to identify and then exchange them. Personal analog clocks will perhaps give them their first experience with this type of tool. Dry erase markers will allow them to re-use multiple resources, printed and laminated for especially for them. All of these items in their own personal toolbox will provide them ownership of their learning.
