For the last 18 months, I have been teaching from home. This August I am happy to report I will be doing in-person learning at my wonderful school! Many students/parents decided to work from home the last quarter (the only time we were able to have in-person hybrid). This August 23rd will be the first day of in-person school for many students and teachers!
It is my goal to help my students feel safe and at ease about their health, mental well-being, and education! In order for us to be successful in this venture, we will need basic supplies. Students are not permitted to share supplies at this time, so I want to make sure everyone has what they need, and I am able to keep their environment sanitized and safe.
I know many students will be playing 鈥渃atch-up鈥 with their skills due to issues with technology and attendance while we learned from home. The last thing I want them to worry about is not having what they need to be successful this school year.
This project will serve 2 class classrooms. My partner teacher and I teach 4th and 5th grade. I teach ELA and Science and my partner teacher teaches Math and Social studies. Our student population is 95% economically disadvantaged. Many of the parents are essential workers, so this pandemic has hit them particularly hard. We also have many students who are English Language Learners. The goal of this project is to remove or alleviate the stress of not being able to afford to purchase supplies and increase the feeling of being safe in school.
