In our class, we want to learn and to grow as people, to challenge one another, and to learn about real-world issues that impact real people.
Students work hard, push themselves and each other, and experience success when they know that their entire selves are cared for by their peers and teachers. These books (none of which are part of the standard English curriculum in our district) will form a classroom library from which students can borrow and read books that they are interested in. The cleaning supplies will help keep the classroom safe for in-person learning, and students can enjoy the snacks while learning and discussing the themes of social justice that are apparent in our lessons. All of the supplies will help to create a positive, supportive environment in which the students experience joy and feel valued.
