We are fortunate to have one to one iPads in our district and classroom. Unfortunately, we have the devices, but do not always have access to the maintenance and accessories necessary to utilize the devices properly. We currently have only a few working headphones. The biggest need in our class is having a set of simple, reliable, and working headphones for each student!
Individual headphones for each student are necessary to provide accurate results on many listening based online assessments, aid in student concentration, and reduce distractions. We have excellent literacy and math programs available on our iPads, but need a new supply of headphones to use these programs effectively! Headphones allow each student to work independently on their programs that are differentiated based on their levels. It is incredibly difficult to teach and learn when broken headphones and technology issues interrupt the learning process. This project will help me and my students spend more time on grade level content and less on trading off broken headphones and damaged jacks. My students know to treat technology with care and with the headphones provided they will continue to learn how to properly insert, remove, and store the headphones so they will last.
