Since the majority of my students do not even have notebooks, markers, or pen at home they do not get to engage in that hands-on work that is needed to become a better reader and/or writer. Having stamps, stencils, clay, and magnetic letters in class will give the kids a chance to not only have a fun experience, but they will learn responsibility working with the tools and taking care of them.
They will get to learn and build new words that they will use in writing station and it will help build their vocabulary and increase their reading fluency. They also need headphones to listen carefully.
