Our elementary school violin program will provide essential knowledge to students in their elementary years. They will be able to make connections between music and the other subjects they learn in the classroom with new violins and cases. They will learn discipline and practice, and the thrill of reaching a new milestone. They will come to better understand how music fits into the real world, and the power it has to improve the quality of life.
In our low-income/low opportunity neighborhood, this music program can give our students the chance to acquire a very special life skill for free. The characteristics they will learn from studying an instrument, in a group setting, will teach them the value of practice, teamwork, musicianship, and the joy of creating their own music. This project could change the lives of these amazing students, who have few opportunities to prove to themselves what they are capable of becoming.
