By donating to our project, not only will you help to improve and increase student engagement, you will ultimately help to increase student achievement! The use of Chromebooks is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Students complete reading and math Problems of the Day, complete math and reading practice, and most importantly, take their semester tests and quarterly and yearly exams. Many students come to school with a working knowledge of what a Chromebook is. The difficulty lies in having students manipulate the touch pad. Countless minutes are wasted daily while the students attempt to manipulate objects by using the touch pad. Students have been exposed to mice in kindergarten, first, and second grades, but upon reaching third grade, students are expected to begin using the touch pad immediately.
Having a class set of mice will allow students to simply focus on their academic endeavors, and not whether they will be able to manipulate the touch pad. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the technology!
